Integrated Cancer Service

Integrated Cancer Service

The multidisciplinary Integrated Cancer Service provides safe, high-quality personalised care close to home to people with cancer in the Rockingham Peel Group catchment area. This region has a higher-than-average cancer rate compared to the rest of Western Australia.

The service delivers patient-centred care to every patient as they navigate their cancer journey. It achieves this by working in true partnership with multiple Rockingham General Hospital medical and allied health departments and an external radiation oncology provider.

In late 2024, the service received a SMHS Excellence Award (external site) in recognition of the strong partnerships it had developed with external community, partners and stakeholders to deliver improved health care.

Our priorities

Our vision is simple – “Patients first, always. Excellence in care”.

Our service, staff and partners are committed to the following core values:

  • Ensuring all patients can access the same high standard of care.
  • Advocating for our patients’ needs and wishes.
  • Treating patients, family and carers with compassion.
  • Providing innovative care.
  • Delivering inclusive health and wellness care which recognises the individual needs of patients, their family and carers, as well as culturally appropriate care.

Your cancer journey

Your cancer journey starts with the words, “You have cancer,” and continues throughout your diagnosis and treatment.

We understand how confronting and challenging this can be for you, your family and carers. Please know we are committed to supporting you throughout your journey.

SMHS Cancer Plan 2024–34

The South Metropolitan Health Service (SMHS) Cancer Plan 2024–34 (PDF 9.2MB) sets out how we will reduce barriers and transform cancer care for Western Australians impacted by cancer.

Work is already underway to progress implementation of the priorities highlighted in the plan.
