Ensuring the consumer voice is heard, acknowledged and valued

Consumer Advisory Council

A woman holding some documents stands talking to a young woman in a hospital bed.Rockingham Peel Group (RkPG) is committed to working with consumers and carers to ensure the hospital and health services we provide are responsive to the needs of our community.

Our Consumer Advisory Council (CAC) provides a structured partnership between consumer and carer representatives and RkPG to work towards the shared goal of improving the service and experience for consumers.

It includes consumer, carer and community members and provides consumer advice, direction and advocacy for the planning and delivery of health care provided by RkPG.

Some of the ways the CAC is involved with RkPG include:

  • planning, developing and evaluating the health services at our hospital
  • advising on any new initiatives to ensure they will meet the needs of consumers
  • advocating for consumers and community participation
  • facilitating communication and cooperation between our hospital, local service providers and the community.

Become a CAC member

The CAC provides an excellent opportunity to make a real difference to your local health services and the consumer and carer experience.

Members of the CAC will:

  • have an interest and passion in improving local health services and the consumer experience
  • be active in the community, with strong community networks and a sound understanding of local issues
  • reflect the diversity of the population within the RkPG catchment area, including a diversity of ages, genders and cultural backgrounds
  • have the capacity to participate and engage in the activities of the CAC.

Being a member of the CAC involves:

  • meeting monthly at Rockingham General Hospital
  • sitting on specific committees as a consumer representative
  • providing input and feedback for surveys, policies and plans, and consumer information publications
  • interact with patient to gather real-time feedback for reporting
  • participating in the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (external site) accreditation process.

How to apply

To register your interest in becoming a member of the RkPG CAC, download the CAC recruitment pack (Word 900KB) and complete the application form.

Return your completed form by:

  • delivering to the Rockingham General Hospital, ESQR Unit, Elanora Drive, Rockingham
  • posting to Rockingham General Hospital, ESQR Unit, PO Box 2033, Rockingham WA 6968
  • email the CAC.
