A group of people attend a forum on voluntary assisted dying
08/06/2026

Staff and community members are invited to attend two upcoming forums in Perth that will explore voluntary assisted dying through real stories, lived experiences and clinical perspectives.

To be held at the Holmes à Court Gallery in West Perth, the sessions form part of The Power of Choice exhibition, a powerful series of portraits by Australian photographer Julian Kingma in partnership with Go Gentle Australia.

The exhibition shares deeply personal stories of people, through intimate portraiture, who have chosen voluntary assisted dying, alongside the experiences of their loved ones and the health professionals who support them

These events provide a safe and respectful space to learn more, reflect and engage in conversation about end-of-life care choices.

For community members: Voices in Voluntary Assisted Dying

This first session is open to all members of the community and offers an opportunity to hear directly from people involved in voluntary assisted dying care and decision-making.

Date: Thursday 18 June
Time: 10.00am to 11.30am
Location: Holmes à Court Gallery, 10 Douglas Street, West Perth
Register for the community forum (external link)

Attendees will hear from a panel including a voluntary assisted dying doctor, care navigator, pharmacist and a person with lived experience caring for a loved one. The session will explore different perspectives and provide a chance to ask questions in an open and supportive environment.

For health professionals only: Clinician Voices in Voluntary Assisted Dying Forum

A second session is specifically designed for clinicians and health professionals, focusing on the practical and clinical aspects of voluntary assisted dying.

This forum will feature voluntary assisted dying professionals sharing insights into how care is delivered in practice, and how growing patient interest is shaping healthcare conversations. It is an opportunity for clinicians to reflect on how this legally available option may intersect with their own practice and patient care.

Date: Wednesday 24 June
Time: 5.30pm to 7.00pm
Location: Holmes à Court Gallery, 10 Douglas Street, West Perth
Register: Register for the health professional forum (external link)
